Alternate PureVPN PPTP Setup Guide for DD-WRT & Tomato

  • Normally we recommend using the OpenVPN protocol for PureVPN router connections, however if you are experiencing an issue with OpenVPN, such as slow speeds, then a PPTP connection may work faster in some cases.
  • Make sure you are not running PureVPN OpenVPN and PPTP connection protocols at the same time!
  • It is very difficult to troubleshoot any difficulties with PPTP connections due to lack of proper connection logging. If you have trouble establishing a PPTP connection we recommend sticking with the OpenVPN setup option.

Entering PureVPN PPTP settings in DD-WRT:

In your DD-WRT FlashRouter settings click on the Setup > Basic Setup tab. Leave all settings not mentioned below as their default setting.

I used the PPTP version of this for DD-WRT it works as of 11/16/2017 but is extremely slow gave me 1.02 download speed and 1.36 upload speed.  So though it works  to provide vpn the speed renders it useless to me.

This PPTP alternate to OpenVPN worked for me. I had super slow with openvpn now have good respectable speed with PPTP.

must work for some and not others

    Thanks
