Alternate HideMyAss (HMA) PPTP Setup Guide for DD-WRT & Tomato

  • Normally we recommend using the OpenVPN protocol for HMA router connections, however if you are experiencing an issue with OpenVPN, such as slow speeds, then a PPTP connection may work faster in some cases.
  • Make sure you are not running HMA OpenVPN and PPTP connection protocols at the same time!
  • First log into the HMA website to retrieve your special PPTP specific HMA password from the Manual Setup area within your account. Your username will be the same.
  • It is very difficult to troubleshoot any difficulties with PPTP connections due to lack of proper connection logging. If you have trouble establishing a PPTP connection we recommend sticking with the OpenVPN setup option.
  • Scroll down for HMA PPTP Tomato firmware settings.
